It is often inefficient for people to work from home. There can be many distractions and interruptions when people try to focus on their work at home. For example, if people have a pet at home, the pet may run around, make weird sounds, or hang around at their feet, begging for attention. Or, if people have a child, the child may ask for help with different kinds of favors, such as asking for food or drinks, receiving help on homework, etc. They may also whine to draw your attention when they need their parents to play with or accompany them.

Usually, we "draw attention to something,"
"Get attention" sounds more natural to me in this case.
You could also say, "to get their attention" since you are talking about people who have children, but I would just drop the possessive adjective altogether here.
