Nigeria is a country situated in the western part of Africa. Amongst her numerous resources, Nigeria is also blessed with different language that it is believed that more are still been discovered. A nation so vast, one can only imagine how we tend to communicate when we are not speaking English. The secret is this; there are simple words or phrase that are used for day-to-day conversation. e.g a northerner should be able to say the word "owa" (meaning drop) when alighting a bus in the western part of the country. Same way the Yoruba man from the west should understand that "akwai" means same thing up north.
However diversified a nation, there is the common phrase that means the same thing no matter the nuke or cranny you find yourself in "Nija" (Nigeria), the phrase "up NEPA". NEPA (now Power Holding Company of Nigeria) is the electricity company in my country. And the phrase "up NEPA" means electricity has been restored. Funny as it sound, yes! There are several hours of the day we have to live without electricity supply, as such the infamous phrase or perhaps a sentence (because it makes perfect sense) is formulated. Be you Tiv, Igbo, Kanuri or langtang. The "word" up NEPA means the same. Nija I hail oh!
