To help you remember which primary consonant these are pronounced like, notice that the ก group members all sound something like /k/ and the บ group members all sound something like /b/ or /p/ when they are in initial positions. The น and ด groups don’t have this sort of conformity, but the น members sound quite different from ด members in the initial position. This makes their pronunciations somewhat easy to predict, by process of elimination, when you start to practice reading. For writing, on the other hand, you will have to just memorize.
