Are Small Cities Best than Big Cities?

Hi, you guys.
I was born in São Paulo where I lived for 5 years. I've lived in an apartment and I haven't many friends. My only friends were children who lived in the same apartment.
When I move on to a smaller city with my parents, and I don't have any idea how would be my adaptation. We've lived in the house's my grandmother while our house was being built. One thing that I realized with my experience: It was easier to make friends at the school in a small city.
A small city has advantages and disadvantages. Small cities are the calmest. Some years ago, I used to play Pokémon Go and because of this, I used to search for Pokémon throughout the city. There are no so many muggers or thieves, then I never was in trouble.
However, one disadvantage of a small city is the lack of malls, movie theaters, and job opportunities. For example, I need to travel to a close city to go to movie theaters or amusement parks.
Well, as I said, there are advantages and disadvantages. Now you. Do you rather small cities or big cities? Let me know how your city is.

I much prefer living in a smaller place in the countryside rather than a large urban area. You are right to mention that a big downside is a lack of access to amenities and jobs without having to travel. However, I'm happy to trade that off against the better quality of life in a rural area. If I want the bright lights of the city it's only 30mins on the train, and when I'm done I can leave it all behind and return to my peaceful safe village again. That is of course fine as long as you don't miss the last train back, which I seem to have a habit of doing. The taxi fare isn't very kind to my wallet!

I spent my childhood living in a small city however, we moved to a bigger one to seek a better opportunity. I am currently living in the city but my parents have always advised us to never engage in unnecessary city-like habits such as too much shopping, partying, sleeping late and etc. I know those habits are manageable but the pressure of keeping up with peers is somehow magnified compared to when you are living in smaller cities. This pandemic has a great impact on us that our family has decided to return to a smaller city. There, we won't worry much of crowded place and possible contact with a Covid-infected person.
