Beginners Children Teenagers Test Preparation
I am an Italian citizen and a native speaker. I am a passionate, enthusiastic, and devoted foreign language teacher (Italian as a foreign language and ESL). I am currently enrolled in a Master's to Teach Italian to Foreigners. I also have a Bachelor's degree in Foreign languages and Translation (English>Italian, Italian>English, and French>Italian).
I have three years of teaching experience, planning, leading, and continuously improving my online and in-person language lessons.
By teaching students from different countries, and of different age groups, I have improved my communication, creativity, and motivational skills.
I speak three languages myself; I know the learning process can be difficult - I had my fair share of struggles! - but it is also an incredibly rewarding journey! "It is astonishing how much enjoyment one can get out of a language that one understands imperfectly" (B. L. Gildersleeve).
A sample sentence in a language I teach:
Ciao, mi chiamo Francesca e non vedo l'ora di lavorare con te!
The kind of students I'm looking for:
Whatever your level is, we will work together to improve your skills. I am looking for students who care about their passions, who want to improve a new languange.
How my background prepares me to teach:
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Foreign Languages and Translation. I know the learning process can be difficult - I have struggled myself! - but it is very rewarding in the long run! In Italy, I was an ESL teacher for children and adults, and I have been an online language tutor for the past three years (for both ESL and Italian). I am currently attending an Online Master's to teach Italian as a foreign language.
Teaching methods or materials that I typically use during my lessons:
I like to prepare PPTs and PDFs to enrich my lessons whenever I can. I usually use flashcards, songs, games, and role-plays to reinforce new concepts and help the learning process. I always try to equally improve grammar and vocabulary as well as conversation and comprehension. I use different TPR techniques, especially with younger learners. I am used to conducting my lesson only in the target language (as well as in English) and I have seen how beneficial it can be in the long run; every tiny effort to reinforce listening and comprehension counts!
Is there anything you should have or should do in advance:
I always recommend having something to take notes with, a pad and a pencil for example, but every student is different, and every age group has its needs, so I will adapt my style according to students' needs and goals.
