The way I help my students
Having been an English teacher and read some research papers, I have discovered a number of pronunciation errors and difficulties that are most common among Cantonese learners of English. In order to help improve my students’ English speaking skills, I have created some strategies to break their pronunciation habits.

I agree with you - if you are constantly mispronouncing something in the same way, then the first step is to break your habits/try new ways of pronouncing even if it initially produces poor results. One has to be willing to think outside the box and make errors to fix fossilized errors.
