Tagalog Lite Lesson 36 - I- Verbs BF

to make something for someone (BF)

to copy something for someone (BF)
This lesson covers BF i- verbs.
They are used to perform an action for the benefit of someone.
Notice that the nuance of “for” is built into BF verbs, so there is no need to use para. Also, there is no annotation after BF because it is its own, unique variant/nuance.

Patterns for Standard Sentences
For BF verbs, X is the focus, and it is called the “benefactor”.
Ex: Ihanap mo ng aso si Maria.
= Find a dog for Maria.
Ex: Iginawa sila ni Jason ng lechon.
= Jason made them lechon.
Ex: Ikukuha ng guro ng mangga ang mga estudyante.
= The teacher will get mangoes for the students.
Who does Maria look for a cat for every day?
Sino ang inihahanap ni Maria ng pusa araw-araw?
When will Mr. Santos make questions for the students?
Kailan igagawa ni Sir Santos ng mga tanong ang mga estudyante?
I got that for you when you gave me the light.
Ikinuha kita non nung ibinigay mo sa akin ang ilaw.
The one we (incl.) will buy this for today is from Parañaque.
Taga-Parañaque ang ibibili natin nito ngayon.
Copy some store names for Mr. Bautista.
Ikopya mo ng mga pangalan ng tindahan si Sir Bautista.
We (excl.) searched for a chicken for you for four days. (resp.)
Inihanap po namin kayo ng manok ng apat na araw.
David made her a chocolate that was put in her room.
Iginawa siya ni David ng tsokolateng inilagay sa kuwarto niya.
Diego is getting an English name for Joe. It is not hard.
Ikinukuha ni Diego ng Ingles na pangalan si Joe. Hindi ito mahirap.
Buy her a building, not just a restroom!
