I work as a translator so it has definitely helped there, but I was wondering how knowing many languages influences career as a whole.
What has knowing different languages added to your job or career?
I worked as an animator in a hotel in Egypt I had to speak 6 languages which I didn't but I made a detailed folder full of useful day to day lines specific to the hotel , travel and hospitality industry and the area. It was my favourite hotel I had been several times and I knew the origins of the majority of the guests. Amazingly I had 3 Skype interviews with different native speakers and passed with flying colours. I never seemed to have a problem most if what I needed was sports/ entertainment related. Understanding complaints giving directions customer service and small talk.
Sounds awesome! I've heard working at hotels is indeed a great way to start learning languages, seems you took good advantage of that
wow
