Hi, my name is María and I am a native Spanish speaker from Colombia. I have always enjoyed learning languages and learning about other cultures. I also love reading.

How my background prepares me to teach:

Throughout the years, I have discovered some effective language learning techniques that led me to great success. I have decided to use these same techniques to help Spanish students learn Spanish and achieve fluency.

Teaching methods or materials that I typically use during my lessons:

My tutoring approach depends on your individual needs and goals. The lessons I offer are conversation-based and include pronunciation instruction. However, I believe that listening, reading, writing, and grammar are just as important as speaking. Therefore, if you wish, I will also emphasize them in our lessons. When it comes to working with beginners, I usually start by teaching basic Spanish phrases and vocabulary. We will also work on grammar. I will try to get you speaking Spanish as quickly as possible.

Is there anything you should have or should do in advance:

I like to give homework to my students based on what we covered in class (reading, videos, writing, grammar exercises, etc.), so I expect the student to go over it before our next lesson.
