How many languages are there in the world?

Perhaps start with how many languages are spoken in your country. In Kenya we have 68 languages derived from different communities/tribes.

The best decision to date in my life is working from home. I have had the fun of travelling, planning my schedule and deciding how many hours of work i can take.

In so many areas, things have changed for the better. Work anywhere as long as you have internet and laptop. The freedom that comes with it is beyond me..

How has it changed your life?

I find that learning can be easy and challenging a times especially if you have no native speaker of the language you are trying to learn to interact with. However, watching, listening, reading and writing in your chosen language can make is much easier.

Watch shows or movies in that language, get a new paper online and read, download podcasts or something to listen to and try to write as often as you can.

Happy learning.

I love being out door most of my weekends as much as i can. A few months ago, i went on a hiking and mountain climbing the second largest mountain in Africa, Mt.Kenya. The experience was thrilling, great, tiresome and even life threatening. Covered 82 kms and went from 1700 altitude to 4950 altitude high in 5 days. Temperatures ranging from -2 degrees - 5 degrees. sometime a bit sunny for a few hours

High altitude sickness almost cost me, lack of oxygen is real and the experience is one of a life time. Mt Kenya area is covered forest, bare land , large rocks and home to Elephants, Buffaloes, antelopes and many more animals.

I would stay in a cabin in a middle of a forest anytime :)

Emotional Intelligence is the key success. You may ask why?

Self awareness, control and motivation. If you have this qualities, you have a direction in every aspect of your life. You will know how to deal with Work, business, relationship and other people. If you can balance this, then you can handle anything. Be smart and learn how to control your emotions. Make you life decisions based on facts and not emotions.

Tuenzi lugha zetu tunazoelewa, tuungane and tuendeleza kwa vizazi vyote.

Ever since i was young i was brought up in a very diverse community. We have over 42 tribes in Kenya each with a different language, culture, norms and traditions. This in one way has made me understand why people live and behave the way they are. In a way i think language impacts on someone behavior and also it makes you appreciate each others cultures.

I have in the time tried to learn other languages from our Kenyan tribe though not as fluent as they are. I admire how they teach young people, their food, songs, dress code and traditions. When i joined campus back in 2009 i joined German class. I was inspired to join this class because i had a cousin who studied in German and she would come with her friends from German home. Some of the words to me sounded like broken English lol!! I love how dutch people speak and interact and it made more want to learn more.

What motivates you to learn another language besides yours?

Greetings for Sunny Nairobi, Kenya!

I am excited to learn a new language and engage with everyone. I learnt Dutch in campus over 5 years ago. Been a bit rusty and ready to get it going and learn Spanish and French.

Lets get learning :)
