Is knowing grammar more important than knowing vocabulary?

I prefer picking up vocabulary first. It makes you feel excited to construct sentences and use them. When you focus more on grammar, sometimes the grammar rules make you stagnant in learning. For me, there are rules that are hard to be remembered.

I don't think one is more important than the other, but vocabulary takes much more time to learn.

Learning Italian every day!

I believe grammar improves vocabulary by giving it multiple meanings. Words are richer when put in relation to other words, and you start to have insights about the language structure.
