It's definitely not true for apples...unless they are very, very green maybe.

In Thailand now. Next up Tanzania and Philippines.

When I read about apples being good for losing weight and eating less calories I thought the same! The explanation is that apples are high in weight loss friendly fiber and they have a lot of water inside them. Water-rich foods are quite filling, which often leads to reduced calorie intake. It turns out you end up eating less and feeling fuller :o.

A flea can jump up to 200 times its own height. That is the equivalent of a human jumping the Empire State Building.

That's not the same as getting negative calories, like you do with celery. If you subtract the fiber from the calories in apples, you will still have a lot of calories. I completely agree that apples are good for you though.

  • In January 2017, the asteroid AG13 narrowly missed hitting earth. It came as close as .54 lunar units. That's halfway between here and the moon. Most scientists didn't know about it until 24 hours before it brushed us by. It could have caused about as much damage as the meteor that exploded over Chelyabinsk in February 2013.
  • The Eiffel Tower in Paris grows by five inches in the summer.
  • The Spanish word for wife is esposa. The plural form for wives is esposas but that could also translate into "handcuffs."
  • A turtle can breathe through its butt. (He doesn't recommend it though.)
  • Clocks never appear in dreams.

When some materials are heated they expand, that is why the tower grows, the metal expands :)

The largest cells found in nature are ostrich eggs. Before fertilization, the entire interior of the egg consists of a single cell, which can weigh up to 5 pounds.

Yes they are! They are considered the biggest cell and according to the Guinness World Records "The largest egg on record weighed 2.589 kg (5 lb 11.36 oz) and was laid by an ostrich (Struthio camelus) at a farm owned by Kerstin and Gunnar Sahlin (Sweden) in Borlänge, Sweden"

  • NASA created these... devices... that help astronauts to pee. They had to change the names from "small, medium and large" to "large, gigantic and humungous" because the astronauts were never willing to pick their true size. :P
  • A "jiffy" is an actual unit of time. In chemistry and physics, it is the amount of time it takes for light to travel a distance of one centimeter.
  • Count the number of times a cricket chirps in fifteen seconds. Then add 37. That's approximately how hot it is tonight (in Fahrenheight).
  • Every single Rubik's Cube you find can be solved in 20 moves or less.

The largest internal organ is the liver. It is also the heaviest organ, with an average of 1.6 kilograms (3.5 pounds).

The largest external organ, which is also the largest organ in general, is the skin.

And some have more humungous organs than most.

In fact...

  • In 1997 about 8% of the population of the USA was obese. Today, it's 39% of them that are obese.
