Has anyone used this? If so, how effective do you think it is? Does it educate you beyond basic phrases and key words?
Rosetta Stone
I've checked it out, and wasn't impressed. Most reputable language learners I know who have used it dislike it, and it's probably the most expensive language learning program in existence. ymmv

I tried it years ago when it was relatively new and they did the free trial thing, as far as I remember it was just essentially flash cards with not much useful conversational language
